About the workshop

In 2017 Australians lost $340 million to scammers. In many cases small business websites are part of the chain of deception.

You may not think your site has anything worth being hacked for, unfortunately that is not true. Websites are compromised all the time and there are many reasons why your website security is breached; this could be to steal your data, mess with your website layout, use your server as an email relay for spam or setup a temporary web server to serve files of an illegal nature.

So what happens if my website gets hacked? In short – complete and utter chaos! Your brand reputation could be ruined and your email domain blacklisted.

The purpose of this workshop is to provide you with fundamentals of Wordpress website security, so you can begin to protect yourself from these threats.

At the end of this workshop you will have the knowledge to:

  • Understand why hackers hack websites
  • Identify 5 simple steps to reduce the risk of your site being hacked
  • Determine whether your site has the right security tools in place
  • Know how to clean up and recover your website
  • Recover from a Google hacked page warning

When you register for this workshop you will receive a copy of Website Security Checklist – Beat the Hackers at their Game. Please ensure you have the checklist on your laptop as you will be applying the learning to your own website.
